What is AffirmLock?
AffirmLock is a mindful app blocker for iPhone. It creates a short pause before selected apps unlock, then guides you through a mood check-in, optional reflection, affirmation, or breathing reset.
How does AffirmLock work with iPhone Screen Time?
AffirmLock asks for iPhone Screen Time permissions so you can apply restrictions to selected apps or app categories. When one of those apps opens, AffirmLock adds a short check-in before access continues.
Can AffirmLock help with mindless scrolling?
AffirmLock is built for the moment before reflexive scrolling starts. It does not promise guaranteed screen-time reduction, but it can create a calmer pause where you notice your mood, breathe, reflect, and choose whether to continue.
Does AffirmLock use AI?
AffirmLock can use AI to generate affirmations when that feature is enabled. Mood and broad journal signals are processed through AffirmLock's backend and OpenAI; raw journal text is kept out of the OpenAI request, and fallback affirmations are available when AI is not used.
Is AffirmLock a parental-control app?
No. The launch positioning is for self-directed iPhone users who voluntarily choose selected apps to pause before opening.
Can I skip journaling?
Yes. Journaling is optional. The check-in can continue to an affirmation and unlock without a journal entry.
